Hi all,

can anyone tell me how I can change/add an image to the top of the forum pages where the logo currently exists. I'm having a bit of trouble with this but if anyone who's used the forum, or this kind of forum before, does know how, could you please let me know?

Edit: On a more serious note if it's not obvious on the admin panel then I assume you do it via the database.

you probably need to go poking at the template files

Carefully though, as they're a lovely complicated mess of html and so quite easy to accidentally delete stuff you don't mean to and mess the whole layout up..

umm yeah.. no idea where the database is haha... we have no passwords for anything lol... other than the admin on bukc...

Er, I was gonna suggest google for the version you have (I think it tells you on the admin control panel on the forum).

But if you don't know how to get to the database it's probably best to ask someone like Katy or Iain, who used to manage that side of things.

For phpBB2: replace templates/subSilver/images/logo_phpBB.gif with your logo
For phpBB3: replace styles/subSilver/imageset/site_logo.gif with your logo

Is there any chance you could upgrade to phpBB3 for me please Katy? There's instructions with the upgrade package online http://www.phpbb.com/downloads/ . But I have no clue how to use FTP etc. ?

Do you want to change the logo or add an extra image as well as the logo? I'd be surprised if you couldn't change the forum logo just through the forum admin panel, but it's been a while since I saw a phpBB admin panel so I might be wrong...

You may be able to but I've looked everywhere and can't find anything.

Either to be honest... I can just edit the existing one to make a 2 in 1, otherwise having an extra picture would work too.

Si, I would massively recommend against upgrading the forum just yet. I'll explain why in person but suffice to say it would not be the best of ideas!

As for the logo, do you have ftp access yet? If you have, you could just change the logo to another image with the new picture you want, or if you want to add things a new picture of the two images 'stuck' together into a single image. If you want to bring a laptop down to the shed tonight I'll do my very best to sort it all out

The Grant Thornton Logo has now been put on our UoB sport page, http://www.sport.bham.ac.uk/clubs/kayak.shtml.

I know this thread is regarding the forum, but on the general website, http://www.bukc.org.uk/, there is a grey gap on the top right where i would like to have the logo embedded if this is possible.

This is a copy of the logo they sent me and if any1 knows how to do this it would be greatly appreciated.

that grey bit on the right changes size depending on the size of the header image and how big your browser window is

but yeah, I'll bung it in somewhere when I do all the forum updates
